Quito is the capital city of Ecuador, is situated on the eastern slopes of the Pichincha, an active composite volcano in the Andes mountains. Quito Ecuador is the second-highest located capital in the earth. Quito is situated almost at the equator (the central square of the city the Plaza de La Independencia is located about 25 kilometers south of the equator). There are many parks in Ecuador Quito, they are Metropolitano, La Carolina, El Ejido and La Alameda. During your travel to Quito you can see many churches that occupy up to one quarter of the city area. A monument to the Virgin Mary is located on top of the El Panecillo hill, it is visible from almost all the places of the capital city.
